A collection of products from the finest artisans of Piedmont will be in Market Hall on Thursday 27th April, showcasing some of the region’s best products, as well as some secrets which are less well known to the British public.
With PDO Cheeses, DOC & DOCG wines, unpasteurised beers, and other products made by social enterprises, the items presented not only express the true terroir of Piedmont but also ones that sustain the local community.
Spes Chocolates, a brand with enormous history based Turin, producing Gianduja chocolates, possibly the most internationally famous product from City. Spes work with the local young offender’s prison, helping rehabilitate young people through work.
Pina Kitchen Co Operative produce all vegan soups, jams and other products with exquisite flavour; and Terramia produce baked goods using ancient grains and unleavened bread such as Grissini. Both Co-ops actively employ people with special needs and people from challenging back grounds.
You will also find products rarely seen in the UK, such as Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco DOC, a luscious sweet red sparkling wine – perfect with the sweet treats also on display.
Ursula Ferrigno will be in the demonstration kitchen with a tribute to the beauty of Piedmont gastronomy and ingredients, giving us a sumptuous collection of recipes inspired by the Italian producers joining us for the day in the Market Hall. On this special occasion the demonstrations will run 12.30pm – 2pm and 2.30pm – 3.30pm
With ten producers attending, shoppers will get a true sense of the culinary heritage of the region.
